PARTY HIGHLIGHTS to look out for:

  • Vanilla cupcakes with “sparkler” toppers, pinwheels, & star sprinkles
  • Creative use of vintage furniture for displays (love the mix-n-match chairs too!)
  • Cool gingham picnic basket (used as cupcake stand) + modern striped drink dispenser

PARTY DETAILS, as told by Emily

For this 4th of July Party I styled a dessert table with a rustic/antique feel.  Using a red antique wood bench, I created a sweetscape including cupcakes, fresh summer berries, caramel popcorn and candy coated rice krispies on a stick.  Thoughtful details include sparkler toppers for the cupcakes along with red white and blue pinwheels, ribbon tied around nut cups with caramel popcorn, and patriotic ribbon tied around the rice krispie sticks. On top of the bench I draped a patriotic bunting flag which added a festive look to my desserts.

For the drinks, I used a red white and blue striped metal drink dispenser and mason jars with red and white barber shop paper straws.  A box of American flag covered tootsie rolls and bright red cherries complete the sweets table.

The children’s table is my favorite part!  I’m in love with chevron right now and used a navy and white chevron patterned tablecloth and love how it looked!  I like using a few different chairs at tables which I think makes it more interesting.  The centerpiece is an array of white flowers with a small American flag in the center.  I just happened to have these red glass plates in my cabinets and of course had to use them!  I love how the afternoon sun makes them sparkle!  Snacks on the children’s table included blueberries and star shaped sandwiches.  After they patiently waited for photos to be over they were rewarded with a cupcake. ;)
