Real Parties: “Peek-a-Pooh” Baby Shower
Today’s Real Party is the perfect example of how a playful, youthful concept can be re-interpreted in a decidedly adult fashion!
Sent in by Sophia Park of Petite Productions, not only is this “Peek-a-Pooh” baby shower ultra-stylish and adorable, it’s also extremely thoughtful, as the shower’s theme was created especially for mom-to-be, with her interests & heritage in mind!
Read on for LOTS more gorgeous images and all the party details, as told by Sophia …..
“Our “Peek a Pooh” Baby Shower was created for the guest of honor who is a Pooh Bear fanatic.
Honoring mom’s Malaysian roots along with her love for the honey crazy bear, we took Pooh on a cultural journey leaving “Hundred Acre Woods” for “Hundred Acre Tropics”! From a honey pot cake sitting on a bed of tropical flowers, to monstera leaf place mats and the perfect tea house to bring all the shower elements together, we had a great time celebrating baby Cayleigh!
DÉCOR
We couldn’t have asked for a better venue than the Tranquil Tea Lounge, as it already epitomized the overall look and ambience we were seeking for this particular shower.
However, Nisie of Enchanted Florist was still able to enhance this ideal location even further by fusing our two main concepts perfectly… She captured the playfulness of Pooh and the energy of the tropics with bright and bold arrangements, and the use of organic bark containers for each arrangement added a subtle hint of Pooh’s environment.
To add modern and contemporary feel to our character-inspired shower, classy Suede Oak table runners from Wildflower Linens created the foundation of our table set up, with crisp Khaki Linen napkins to complement.
Monstera leaves and orchids also accented each place setting.
FOOD / DRINKS
From the food to beverages, presentation and taste was amazing!
Beautifully plated Pacific Spring Rolls kicked things off as light appetizers, and Warm-Pressed Sandwiches served with Organic Greens followed…
White Sparkling Jasmine Tea was a great (alcohol-free) way to toast the mom-to-be. Each guest was also served a premium loose tea of their choice, served hot or iced. There were over 85 selections, including many tropical-inspired flavors!
And as the perfect accompaniment to our tea, we served fresh scones with flavors like Chocolate Peanut Butter and Tropical Lavender Passionfruit. Each plate was a miniature display of art with precise sauce work and food placement!
Our cake alone deserves quite a bit of attention and recognition! Created by Sunny from Filigree Cakes, Sunny brought to life our cake concept of Pooh’s honey pot sitting on bed of tropical flowers:
Without looking too “cartoon-y”, the cake still has the perfect amount of playfulness that got all the guests very excited when they approached it! (Also see image #2, at top)
DIAPER CAKE
A baby shower is never complete without a diaper cake, and we made sure our guest of honor had a memorable diaper cake!
Dwarfing even some standard wedding cakes, the diaper cake contained over 300 diapers to last mom for… a week? =) With tropical flower embellishments along the length of the cakes top to bottom, it stayed consistent with the shower’s bright colors and design.
THOUGHTFUL DETAILS
An original Winnie the Pooh storybook was used as our guestbook. Everyone could add their own special message to the book, which would later be included it the nursery’s library.
A baby onesie was also signed by all in attendance. The signed onesie later dressed a tropics traveling Tigger – also secured from the islands – as another reminder to mom and baby of all the love and support they have from their friends and family. The inclusion of Tigger served another significant purpose… as the baby was going to be born in the Year of the Tiger!
A combination of goodies filled each guests favor bags, including Winnie the Pooh pocket tissue found in Thailand on a scouting trip. Mini honey pots with honey pot dippers were also gifted to each, along with a case of tea remind of guests of their memorable afternoon.
