Cute & Affordable BOO Basket Ideas for Kids
I love doing BOO Baskets for my kids every October (and I know they love it too!). It’s a fun way to celebrate the season – and you can gift them anytime in October.
These are different from the *BOO your neighbors* type of BOO baskets because they’re bigger and contain more stuff. However, I always try to keep them affordable. And they can still be super cute without going over the top!
I also like to use Halloween printable designs (Accent Cards or Large Labels) to personalize the baskets and make them look extra cute.

I bought most of these filler items at Target and Marshalls, but stores like Dollar Tree, Walmart, Ross, and HomeGoods are also great places to shop for affordable finds!
By the way, I have two girls aged 14 and *almost 13* right now. These are their baskets from the past couple of years, so these ideas will probably be most helpful to those gifting to teen & tween girls. ;)
BOO BASKET #1
***
(Pictured up top & at the bottom)
Here’s what’s in the basket:
- Halloween-themed Baking Kit from Target
- Nerd Rope
- Candy Corn
- Ghost Peeps
- Reese’s Pumpkins
- Fuzzy Halloween Socks
- Charcoal Face Mask
- Black Nail Polish OR Elf Lip Gloss
- Body Spritz OR Spa Gloves
Some items differed between the two versions of this basket for my girls, which is why there’s an “OR” on some line items above.
I used these printable BOO Basket Flags to decorate both versions of Basket #1.
BOO BASKET #2
***
Here’s what’s in the basket:
- Halloween Blanket (from Target)
- Squishy Ghost Stress Ball
- Halloween Socks
- Reese’s Sticks
- Candy Corn
- Nerd Rope
- Halloween Haribo Gummies
- Sour Apple Candy Spray
This basket could work well for boys or girls! I’d adjust the design of the blanket and socks to suit your kids’ tastes best.

Look for Halloween-themed:
- Candles
- T-shirts
- Cookie Cutters
- Hair Accessories
- Notebooks or Journals
- Decor items for their room
- Murder Mystery themed books for teens – like the A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder series or One of Us is Lying series
- Age-appropriate Halloween or Fall-themed books
More Helpful Tips:
It’s nice to use “baskets” that can be reused as organizers or storage bins when possible!
For filler, I like to use festooning tissue (also called “tissue fringe”) because it creates a nice fluffy layer at the bottom but is just one piece, so you don’t have small individual pieces randomly falling out and making a mess!
Here’s the 2nd version of Book Basket #1… I varied the printable flags and a couple of filler items that I thought my older daughter would specifically like:
