Michael Jackson, the Brat Pack and a whole lot of sugary candies…we’re flashing back to the 80s! For her big 3-0 celebration, Stephanie Nestor put a whole lot of elbow grease into making this Born in the 80’s Neon 30th Birthday Party the perfect tribute to her favorite things from those totally rad years. I am digging that bright candy ‘cake’ which adds such a playful pop of color to the dessert table & would be a great alternative for someone who doesn’t like cake! With so many righteous details, I’m starting to wonder why these trends ever died in the first place!

PARTY DETAILS as told by Stephanie…

It’s the year of the big 3-0 for me and others born in 1984…so I wanted to take a trip down memory lane and host an 80’s themed party. I made sure to include some of my favorite items from my childhood, such as: slap bracelets, vending machine sticky hands in the acorn capsules, troll dolls, caboodle (which served as the utensil holder), assorted candies, crackets, pogs and much more.

I used a lot of pattern inspiration from the 80’s to make the event pop and tie each area together like the bandanas, zebra inlay on the mantel, framed geometric designs, neon laser effect on cabinets and backsplash at drink station (used paper tape) and paint splatter backdrops. I had fun decorating with Slinkys and trying not to get them tangled in a knot in the process.

Sadly, some of my favorite foods and drinks have been discontinued but I wanted my all time favorite drink, the Squeezit, to be represented. So I found some generic brand which resembled the Squeezit and than made a custom label. It was also fun to use VHS and cassette tapes throughout the design of the party. Overall, it was a RAD evening and the perfect end to my twenties!
