I am super keen on this hoppin’ 50’s style party! Nicole Gould of Million Dollar $mile Celebrations geared up for this {Baby, Let’s Cruise} Funky & Feminine Classic Car Party for her daughter Evelyn, a 3 year old grease monkey in the making, who happily accompanies her family to car shows (and has picked up a thing or two!) I love the combination of the black and white houndstooth with the bright floral patterns. Guests admired old school rides while dancing the night away — I would say this party was quite the bash!

PARTY DETAILS as told by Nicole…

The birthday girl’s a Classic Beauty, America’s Sweetheart, and absolutely 100% Daddy’s little girl! Her daddy & grandpa buy, restore, and sell classic American automobiles and she gladly tags along from car show to car show. Surprisingly, she knows a lot about these cool, old chrome rides! When she turned three, a Classic Car Cruise seemed only fitting for such an adorable ‘grease monkey’ and ‘gear head!’ Adding retro floral and houndstooth patterns to the décor made the theme feminine and added an unexpected twist on the traditional 50’s sock hop! All of the guests brought a donation to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America in lieu of gifts!

Decor

Nana and Papa were nice enough to allow us to once again transform their beautiful backyard into a classic car show, and we cruised some of Grandpa and Daddy’s rides onto the grass to set the scene for the celebration. From a bright red 1949 Chevy pick-up to a 1971 scream’ yellow Olds, the classic artifacts of American history sat pretty as the backdrop for Evelyn’s birthday celebration. A 1961 Chevy Impala convertible greeted guests at the entry along with a lit, custom-made (by Grandma Dianne) arrow sign that said, “Hey cool cats… the party’s this way!” Petite Party Studio set me up with everything a gal could need for a black and white themed soiree, including that amazing black cake stand! Spray-painted in bright colors, hubcaps and license plates further added car elements to the theme. An adult table and kid’s table were set with coordinating, spray-painted hubcaps, die-cast cars, framed car facts, pictures, and Coca-Cola bottles filled with baby’s breathe and custom made flags. Desiree from PaperCandee once again ‘knocked my bobby-socks off’ with her ability to take my theme and create a complete, custom coordinating set of printables. Along with the floral print, classic polka dots, and houndstooth (which was used in many interiors in Chevy automobiles in the 1960’s), Desiree brought my girly and grease-lovin’ vision to life! We also added pink burger baskets with cool Cat-eye and “Buddy Holly” glasses to wear for the shindig! We also created a lounge filled with comfy black couches, accent pillows and hanging art next to the dance floor to dance the night away!

Sweets & Eats

You know you have a fine classic automobile when someone says, “It’s so clean under the hood, you could eat off of it!” Well, we took it literally!! I popped the hood and displayed the most fabulous treats on top of the engine of a 1956 Chevy! Brittany from Edible Details made an amazing pink Cadillac fondant cake topper — the tiniest details on the car make it both adorable and authentic! Lynlee from Lynlee’s Petite Cakes created Evelyn’s name in fondant chrome… just like an emblem from a real classic! Continuing in fondant fabulousness, Evie & Mallow’s mastermind, Samantha, sent the most delicate, delicious, and dainty flowers and personalized toppers to adorn cakes, cake pops, and cupcakes. The amazing candy apples from Roni’s Sugar Creations glistened and could have easily been mistaken for a freshly waxed paint job! Roni also delivered chocolate covered Oreos and cookies with wafer-transferred prints and patterns matching the theme. Almost too beautiful to eat (unless you’ve tried her sweets) were the rose cake pops. Kim from Cake Pop my Heart truly outdid herself this year! Melissa, from the Baked Equation, hand-cut and decorated one dozen of the most intricate and amazing sugar cookies I have ever laid my eyes on! The hand-painted car and the scripted words matched the invitation perfectly! And, last but not least, were my pride and joy — my very own attempt at hand-painting a houndstooth pattern on Essence Bakery’s delicious vanilla flavored French macarons. I don’t know if it was the shine off the car’s chrome, or the scent off the desserts themselves, but the dessert display had guests cruisin’ up for treats all night long!

The tailgate of this silver delivery sedan was used to display only the finest in 50’s cuisine: cheeseburgers from In-N-Out wrapped in polka-dot party favor bags, French Fries and ketchup packets in glass apothecaries, and teeny-tiny shake shots in the most adorable miniature bottles.

We ate and danced to the oldies until after dark when we had to flip on the headlights and dance under the stars! Each guest cruised away with a 1957 T-Bird favor box filled with vintage candy “For the Road!”
